The problem & our solution
At EvoKreyòl, we understand the challenges that arise from code-switching between Kreyòl (Haitian Creole) and French. This can create confusion for both foreigners and Haitian descendants born outside of Haiti. To address this, we focus on teaching students the correct Haitian Creole pronunciation, enunciation, and diction, grounded in the language’s unique alphabet and grammatical rules. Our program emphasizes continuous improvement in these areas, ensuring that learners gain a solid command of authentic Haitian Creole.
In addition to our core Haitian Creole lessons, we offer introductory French courses. These lessons help students clearly differentiate between Haitian Creole and French pronunciation, reducing the common errors of blending or misinterpreting the two languages as the same.
Our mission is to ignite pride and respect for Kreyòl in every Haitian, starting at home.
Our mission is to empower as many individuals as possible, especially Haitians, to master Kreyòl grammar and embrace the full potential of their mother tongue. We believe that valuing your native language is crucial to honoring yourself, your people, and your culture. Undermining Haitian Creole in favor of another language diminishes the rich legacy and sacrifices of your ancestors. Haitian Creole stands as one of the most profound achievements of the Haitian people.
As a core element of Haitian identity, Kreyòl embodies the strength, resilience, and deep ancestral connections of the Haitian people. Spoken across several countries, including Canada, the United States, Cuba, Chile, Brazil, France, and the United Kingdom, Haitian Creole is the most widely spoken Creole language in the world.

How it Started
Our journey began on Clubhouse on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Our inaugural session took place on Saturday, January 2, 2021, bringing together individuals from various countries to learn Haitian Creole. This group comprised mostly of individuals of Haitian descent, including Haitians raised abroad, as well as non-Haitians. Initially, we met once a week, then twice a week on weekends. By April 2021, we were convening daily with different groups of learners to accommodate various time zones around the world.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this course taught by Jhus G. I started learning Kreyòl on Duolingo and felt that I needed more so I set out to find a course. Earlier this year, I found an eight-week group course; and while they did teach a lot of vocabulary, I still felt that I lacked a proper phonetics foundation and real practice. Earlier this summer, I found the course by EvoKreyòl. When I reflect on both experiences from the previous class and this one – there is NO COMPARISON! Jhus is such a dedicated instructed!! Our class size was perfect and within each class session, we got an opportunity to receive individual attention and feedback. Jhus adjusted the learning for each student; I am amazed at how well Jhus was able to adjust and provide individualized feedback along with targeted homework assignments. I am so glad that I found this course and once I get back from an international trip, I plan to sign up for another group class to continue my studies. Mèsi!!!

Pwofesè gently pushes you beyond your comfort by constantly testing your progress and guiding you to greater levels. She says, “you got this!” and you do. I couldn’t have had a better teacher for my personality. Her passion for the culture and kreyòl language along with the strong emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation, and enunciation is definitely on a professional and academic level. TAKE THIS CLASS – YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG. You get way more than you could imagine. Not to mention, she takes notes of your lessons sending you what you learned after your class “who does that?” I can go on and on. Sorry for my long heartfelt review but it is well deserved. Mèsi anpil, Evokreyòl.
