What to Expect from This 8-Month Program

This group program is designed to help adult learners build a solid foundation in Haitian Creole—step by step, in a supportive and interactive environment. By the end of the program, here’s what you can expect to achieve:

Reading & Writing

  • Read short children’s books and beginner texts with confidence.

  • Spell common words and write simple sentences and paragraphs.

  • Write basic messages at an elementary level.

Vocabulary Growth

  • Learn and retain 200+ essential Haitian Creole words.

  • Recognize and use words for everyday topics like food, family, work, and home.

  • Understand days of the week, months, colors, and numbers.

Numbers & Counting

  • Count from 1 to 50

  • Count by tens to 100

  • Use numbers in real-life situations (prices, time, age, etc.)

Speaking & Conversation

  • Hold basic conversations and introduce yourself.

  • Ask and answer everyday questions.

  • Speak with correct pronunciation using learned phonics.

  • Build confidence through weekly group speaking practice.

Vocabulary

Build a strong word bank of everyday terms and useful phrases to help you express yourself in daily conversations.

Writing

Practice forming sentences in Creole with correct spelling and structure—perfect for simple writing tasks.

Reading

Develop reading skills through beginner texts, dialogues, and short stories that help you understand context and meaning.
