Kopivit L’Action Sociale, RISO: Jan 29, 2025 – Feb 9, 2026
Because of your generosity, Haitian Creole books have successfully arrived from Haiti. In early 2025, you donated to help us purchase these books directly from a Haitian bookstore, Kopivit L’Action Social. Ongoing transportation challenges in Haiti delayed delivery for nearly a year. With no flights available from Port-au-Prince, the books were transported overland to Cap-Haitien in December 2025, and then safely carried to NY, United States in February 2026.
We purchased 55 books for $326.37 and paid $55 for transport assistance, bringing the total project cost to $381.37. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $384 in January 2025, fully covering the cost of this effort.
Below are the books we have purchased:
- 187 resèt fasil (11 copies)
- Istwa yon chat baka (11 copies)
- Tonton Maten (11 copies)
- Mwen konnen Ayiti, mwen renmen li (11 copies)
- Van libète (11 copies)
Five books were delivered in person, and 50 books were mailed to 10 students (five books each):
UPS: $80.74 + $84.84 + $25.50 = $191.08

Where will the funds go?
Every dollar raised will go directly toward purchasing books by Haitian Creole authors from bookstores in Haiti, covering transportation to the United States, and shipping these books to our Haitian Creole learners and readers.
Why Haitian Creole books?
Haitian Creole books are essential for language learning and cultural preservation. By purchasing most of these books in Haiti, we also support local authors, bookstores, and the Haitian literary community, strengthening the cultural and educational ecosystem. Supporting this initiative ensures access to these valuable resources while fostering a deeper connection to Haitian heritage.
How can I track my donation?
Donors will receive updates on how their contributions are used, including details about the books purchased, and receipts for all book purchases will also be shared.
